Established in 1890 Mills Dockyard's history has always been the building, repairing and servicing of a wide variety of craft, from houseboats to barges and river launches.  The fourth generation, in Steve Mills, has for the past 25 years specialised in the restoration and construction of vintage wooden boats. Steam, electric and motor launches have all been built at the yard.

We have been involved in the restoration of a number of Historic Race boat projects covering the period 1913 to 1965. European race boats from Italy and France have proved to be fascinating projects.

A number of replicas built to original plans have also been constructed. Follow the links above to see a number of our restorations, rebuild and replicas, some of which are for sale.  A small number of rare vintage boats are offered as restoration projects. Work required can be from a total rebuild to just a fresh coat of varnish. Historical accuracy is aided by a comprehensive library of books and magazines from 1904 onwards.
